I've already mentioned that my friend Zach and I sit around trying to figure out ways to get filthy rich...or at least moderately comfortable.
Anyways, one of our ideas was shot right out of the sky, by our wives. Now both of these women are wonderful, intelligent, and supportive spouses. However, when they heard we wanted to raise white homing pigeons, and rent them out for weddings, they presented a united front of opposition.
My pastor, from the church I grew up in raised these birds on the side, and made a pretty decent income. In fact, his business White Dove Release is now something of a small franchise.
However, as we started listening to our wives reasons for why this business was a bad idea, we began to see it might not be the million dollar dream we had hoped for.
For one, White Dove Release is in L.A. where there are a lot of people, and not a lot of hawks. We live in Small Town, Oregon, where there are a lot of hawks, but not a lot of people. Simply put, dead birds are bad for business.
The nail in the coffin was the fact neither Zach or I wanted to take care of birds, nor did we have a place to put them. All in all, it was good our wives stepped in before we put any money down. Thanks Holly.
